US Special Envoy Visits Lebanon... Discusses Israel-Hezbollah Ceasefire

View original imageAmos Hochstein, the White House senior advisor and Middle East envoy of U.S. President Joe Biden, visited Lebanon on the 19th (local time) to continue ceasefire talks between Israel and the Iran-aligned militant group Hezbollah.
According to Lebanon's state-run NNA news agency, Envoy Hochstein arrived in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, in the morning and met with Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament. Speaker Berri represented Hezbollah in the negotiations.
Earlier, the United States delivered a draft ceasefire proposal to Lebanon. Detailed discussions on this draft are expected to take place on this day.
The U.S. ceasefire proposal reportedly includes full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which was adopted to end the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah ground war, the establishment of an international supervisory committee, and the deployment of approximately 10,000 Lebanese troops to the border area.
