Seoul Metro Maintains Rapid Response System and Implements Measures to Minimize Citizen Inconvenience in Preparation for Legal Compliance Struggle
Company: "We Will Do Our Best to Provide Safe and Smooth Subway Service Through Labor-Management Dialogue"
Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced that it will maintain a rapid response system and implement measures to minimize inconvenience to passengers as the Seoul Metro Labor Union has announced a legal strike starting from the 20th.
A legal strike is a type of work-to-rule action, which involves performing duties strictly according to the conditions required by laws such as the Labor Standards Act, refusing overtime or holiday work, leaving work on time, or collectively taking leave recognized by collective agreements or employment rules, thereby reducing work efficiency.
Even if the legal strike occurs, Seoul Metro will maintain a total of 3,189 train operations as usual. Additionally, during peak commuting hours at congested stations, headquarters, business offices, and subway security personnel will provide coordinated support to maintain order and ensure safety.
The train intervals will remain the same as before: 2.5 to 4.5 minutes during morning rush hours, 3 to 6 minutes during evening rush hours, and 5 to 9 minutes during normal hours.
Seoul Metro will use various communication methods to promptly inform passengers about train operations. Depending on the situation on site, flexible announcements will be made using broadcasting devices, and updates will be quickly shared through the company’s website and social media channels.
The company’s social media can be found on X (formerly Twitter).
