Hwang Hyun-sik, CEO of LGU+, Receives KAIST College of Engineering Alumnus of the Year Award
8th Award Winners Selected... "Driving Company Growth and Innovation"
Award Ceremony to be Held on the 21st at KAIST Main Campus in Daejeon
LG Uplus announced on the 19th that Hwang Hyun-sik, CEO of LG Uplus, has been selected as the '2024 Alumnus of the Year' by the KAIST College of Engineering.
The KAIST College of Engineering 'Alumnus of the Year Award' was established in 2014 and is given to alumni who have contributed to the development of industrial technology or enhanced the school's reputation through academic achievements. Hwang Hyun-sik, the 8th recipient of the award, earned his master's degree in Industrial Engineering from KAIST in 1987.
The KAIST College of Engineering stated the reason for selecting CEO Hwang as the awardee was that "based on a customer-centric management philosophy, he has led the stable growth and innovation of LG Uplus's wired and wireless communication business, enabling LG Uplus to achieve operating profits of 1 trillion won in 2022 and surpass 20 million wireless subscribers in 2023."
They also added that "he is recognized for leading the development of next-generation communication technologies and significantly contributing to strengthening the competitiveness of LG Uplus and the Korean telecommunications industry."
The award ceremony will be held on the afternoon of the 21st at the KAIST main campus in Daejeon, with attendance expected from Moon Jae-kyun, Dean of the College of Engineering at KAIST, Lee Jae-woo, Associate Dean, and Lee Tae-sik, Head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Meanwhile, at the ceremony, CEO Hwang will deliver a commemorative lecture titled "Customer, Collaboration, and People-Centered Leadership."
