View original imageThey visited the Boryeong Festival Tourism Foundation and, through discussions with officials from the Festival Tourism Bureau, learned about the story behind the Boryeong Mud Festival, which has grown into a world-class festival over the years, the process of linking with global festivals such as Spain's La Tomatina, and the foundation's operations and festival events. The visit included a tour of the event site.
Next, at Pinnacle Land Arboretum in Asan City, they observed the 50 Million Chrysanthemum Fragrance Festival, an event hosted by a private agricultural corporation, reviewing overall operational matters and touring the festival grounds to conclude the visit.
Lee Joo-hoon, the representative council member of the research group, said, "Benchmarking excellent cases from other regions provided an opportunity to consider the direction of each festival, including discovering stories for our city's representative festivals such as the Namhansanseong Cultural Festival, Gwangju Royal Ceramics Conference, and Toechon Tomato Festival, as well as coexistence with local communities." He expressed the intention to develop Gwangju City's festivals through the generation of diverse ideas.
