Trump made this announcement at an event held by the America First Policy Institute at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Governor Burgum is a two-term governor and an entrepreneur who previously ran a software company. He competed against Trump in the Republican primary but withdrew early and declared his support for Trump. He was later mentioned as a potential running mate (vice presidential candidate) for Trump. He has also been considered a candidate for Secretary of the Interior and Secretary of Energy in the next administration.
