Will AI Robots Be Deployed for Shipyard Welding?… Basil Company and US Persona AI Jointly Develop Shipbuilding Automation Innovation
Korean industrial robot specialist Basil Company Co., Ltd. has partnered with U.S. humanoid robot specialist Persona AI to embark on the development of innovative robots for automation in the shipbuilding industry.
Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to jointly develop state-of-the-art humanoid robots capable of performing welding tasks at shipbuilding sites and aim to commercialize them within a short period.
Persona AI is a globally top-tier robotics company composed of engineers from NASA, holding a unique position in humanoid technology.
CEO Nicolaus Radford previously founded Nauticus Robotics, a marine robotics company listed on NASDAQ, and his experience and leadership in the automation sector of the shipbuilding industry are gaining attention.
Additionally, CTO Jerry Pratt is the key figure behind the commercialization of Figure AI robots equipped with world-leading technology. He is expected to play a crucial role in maximizing Persona AI’s technological capabilities in this project as well.
CEO Nicolaus Radford emphasized, “We have high expectations for collaborating with Basil Company, a leading automation firm in Korea, the center of the shipbuilding industry. Humanoid robots will provide new solutions in the welding sector of shipbuilding, which is currently facing labor shortages.”
Through this agreement, both companies plan to focus on developing robotic solutions that meet the high technical demands and work efficiency requirements of the shipbuilding industry.
