Jo In-cheol Successfully Hosts National Assembly Premiere of Film 'Born on May 18'

View original imageJo In-cheol, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Gwangju Seo-gu Gap), announced on the 13th that the National Assembly screening of the film "Born on May 18" was successfully concluded on the 12th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, Conference Room 2.
This screening was organized to reflect on the historical significance and lessons of the May 18 Democratic Uprising and to share the spirit of May with the public. It was co-hosted by eight National Assembly members from the Gwangju region and the Gwangju Metropolitan City, adding symbolic meaning as an event to reaffirm the values of democracy and peace.
About 100 people attended the screening, including Assemblyman Jo, Gwangju and Jeonnam region lawmakers Min Hyung-bae, Park Gyun-taek, Ahn Do-geol, Jeong Jin-wook, Jo Gye-won, as well as actors and citizens.
The film "Born on May 18" reexamines the impact of the May 18 Democratic Uprising on individuals, their families, and society as a whole.
Director Song Dong-yoon said, "I tried to convey the pain of May 18 to the audience while also delivering a message of forgiveness and reconciliation."
An audience member who attended the screening shared, "I deeply felt how much pain May 18 left on individuals and families, and how precious the democratic values gained from it are."

Assemblyman Jo stated, "I hope this screening served as a meaningful occasion to once again reflect on the noble spirit of the May 18 Democratic Uprising and to share its significance with the public," adding, "I will do my best to ensure the inclusion of the May 18 spirit in the preamble of the Constitution and to contribute to the development of democracy."
