Gyeonggi Special Judicial Police Detect 9 Cases Including Origin Labeling Violations at Coastal Restaurants
The Gyeonggi-do Special Judicial Police Unit conducted a focused investigation on restaurants near coastal areas popular with tourists in the fall and uncovered a total of nine violations, including unregistered operations, storage of products past their expiration dates, and false labeling of product origins.
From October 7 to 18, the Special Judicial Police Unit investigated food service establishments concentrated in four areas?Ansan-si, Siheung-si, Hwaseong-si, and Gimpo-si?near the coast for ▲operating food service businesses without reporting to the competent authorities ▲storing expired products without labeling them for educational or disposal purposes ▲falsely or confusingly labeling the origin of food and raw materials ▲selling, storing, or repackaging food without mandatory labeling, among other violations.

Establishment B was found storing approximately 40kg of frozen cow feet past their expiration date in a freezer without labeling them for educational or disposal purposes.
Establishment C was caught disguising Chinese-made kimchi as domestic Korean product. Establishment D was found storing about 6kg of galbi yangji (beef brisket) in a freezer without labeling essential information such as product name, net weight, and raw material names.
The Special Judicial Police Unit plans to refer the identified establishments to the prosecution and notify the relevant local governments.
