Ulsan City Focuses on National Assembly Standing Committees to Secure National Budget for Next Year
On the 13th, Ahn Hyo-dae, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, Visits Key Standing Committees of the National Assembly
Explains Projects Requiring Increased Budget Next Year and Requests National Funding Support
Ulsan City announced that Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Ahn Hyo-dae will visit key standing committees of the National Assembly on the 13th to engage in activities aimed at increasing the 2025 national budget allocation.
On this day, Deputy Mayor Ahn Hyo-dae will hold sequential meetings with the chairpersons and members of major standing committees of the National Assembly, including Maeng Seong-gyu, Chair of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee; Ahn Ho-young, Chair of the Environment and Labor Committee; Im I-ja, member of the Environment and Labor Committee; Yoon Jong-oh, member of the Budget and Accounts Committee; and Kwak Gyu-taek, member of the Budget and Accounts Committee.
At these meetings, Deputy Mayor Ahn will propose national budget support for projects requiring increased funding in the coming year.
The projects in Ulsan City requiring increased budget allocation from the National Assembly cover 21 items totaling 42.2 billion KRW under the jurisdiction of six standing committees: the Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee; the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee; the Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee; the Industry, Trade, Energy, Small and Medium Enterprises Committee; the Environment and Labor Committee; and the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee.
The major proposed projects by committee are as follows.
Under the Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee: “Demonstration of AI-based heavy cargo mobility logistics platform” with 3 billion KRW, and “Development of commuter technology utilizing hydrogen fuel cell hybrid distributed electric propulsion system” with 600 million KRW.
Under the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee: “Construction of Canoe Slalom Center (stadium)” with 500 million KRW, and “Gangdong Beach urban cultural playground landmark project” with 1.8 billion KRW. Under the Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee: “Southeast region marine leisure tourism hub” with 1 billion KRW, and “Taehwagang Seonbawi fishway landmark project” with 300 million KRW. Under the Industry, Trade, Energy, Small and Medium Enterprises Committee: “Establishment of Ulsan secondary battery specialized complex performance testing site (testbed)” with 5.2 billion KRW, and “Creation of Startup Park” with 500 million KRW.
Additionally, under the Environment and Labor Committee: “Non-point pollution reduction project in Samsan-Yeocheon drainage area” with 260 million KRW, and “Establishment of Plastic Reuse and Upcycling Demonstration Support Center” with 1.44 billion KRW. Under the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee: “Construction of Ulsan Urban Railway (Tram) Line 1” with 6 billion KRW, and “Phase 2 development of Myeongchon public garage” with 400 million KRW.
Deputy Mayor Ahn Hyo-dae stated, “The budget reviews by each standing committee will conclude early next week, and the Budget and Accounts Committee’s review will proceed in earnest. This is a crucial time to intensify our activities in the National Assembly to secure increased national funding, and we will do our utmost until the very end.”

The 2025 national budget is expected to be finalized on December 2 after undergoing reduction and increase reviews through this week’s standing committee reviews and the Budget and Accounts Committee’s subcommittee reviews by the end of November.
