Starlink Receives Business Approval in Chad, Africa... Expanding Service Areas
Starlink, the satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, the space company led by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has received a business license in Chad, Africa. With the addition of the 10th country on the African continent where the service is available, the business expansion is expected to continue.
According to major foreign media on the 12th (local time), Boukar Michel, Chad's Minister of Communications, stated, "We have been in talks with Starlink since 2021 and were able to agree on key issues," adding, "Starlink's service will help bridge the information gap in Chad, where a significant portion of the territory lacks fiber optic cables." The Chad government expects that improved internet accessibility will enable the digitalization of public services in both urban and remote rural areas.
With the Chad government's business approval, Starlink service will now be available in 10 countries on the African continent. So far, Starlink has been used in Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Mozambique, Malawi, Madagascar, Benin, South Sudan, Eswatini, and Sierra Leone.

CEO Musk also posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account the day before, stating, "Starlink is now available in Chad." It is known that SpaceX currently operates nearly 6,000 communication satellites.
