BabyMonster Enters US 'Billboard 200' Just 8 Months After Debut
Regular 1st Album 'Drip' Debuts at No. 149
The group 'Baby Monster' has entered the main U.S. Billboard chart with their first full-length album 'DRIP'.
According to the latest chart released on Billboard's official SNS on the 11th (local time), Baby Monster's 'DRIP' debuted at number 149 on the U.S. Billboard main album chart 'Billboard 200' dated the 16th.
This is the first time Baby Monster has entered this chart. Along with the 'Hot 100', the 'Billboard 200' is considered one of Billboard's two main charts and serves as an indicator of local U.S. fandom and influence within the global music market.
Considering that Baby Monster is a rookie group with less than eight months since their official debut, this is an exceptional achievement.
Earlier, Billboard U.S. named Baby Monster as the most promising K-pop rookie of 2024, praising them for "decorating this year splendidly with a first full-length album full of attractive songs," and forecasted their future success.
In fact, Baby Monster is standing out not only on Billboard but also on various global charts. Their first full-length album topped the iTunes album charts in 14 regions and secured the 2nd place on the iTunes Worldwide album chart. Additionally, it reached the top spot on the real-time album top 100 chart of Line Music, Japan's largest streaming site.
They are also steadily rising on the world's largest music streaming platform, Spotify. One of the double title tracks, 'DRIP', entered the Spotify Daily Top Songs Global chart on the 8th and continued its popularity, reaching its highest position at number 109 on the same day.
The title track 'DRIP', which shares the album's name, is an EDM-based dance song that captures YG's unique hip-hop vibe and Baby Monster's confident atmosphere. It gained attention as G-Dragon, leader of YG seniors 'BIGBANG', participated in composing it. The song features dynamic beats and intense bass sounds.
The other double title track, 'CLIK CLAK', is also an original hip-hop genre song. With a strong beat and all seven members rapping, it was a bold attempt that raised expectations for the full song from the time of its pre-release and was praised for leaving the mark of a "rookie inheriting the YG DNA."
Baby Monster, showcasing their 'all-rounder' qualities with all members rapping, will actively expand their global base through their first album promotions.
