Paju-si to Purchase 7,756 Bags of 2024 Publicly Stockpiled Rice
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 12th that it has begun purchasing the 2024 public stockpiled rice and market isolation rice. This year's purchased varieties are Chamdeulim and Samgwang, with a total of 7,756 bags (3,993 bags of paddy rice and 4,763 bags of dried rice) to be procured.

View original imageThe purchase of paddy rice was completed at the Paju Nonghyup Rice Cooperative Corporation (Paju RPC) from October 8 to 31, with a total of 135 farms participating. The purchase of dried rice began on the 6th in Daeseong-dong and will continue at designated locations within the jurisdiction.
The purchase price for public stockpiled rice is based on the nationwide average farm-gate rice price from October to December 2024 surveyed by the Statistics Korea, converted to milled rice (40kg).
Paju City will pay 40,000 KRW per 40kg as an interim settlement immediately after purchase to farmers delivering public stockpiled rice for harvest season loan repayment, with the final settlement to be paid by the end of the year after the purchase price is confirmed.

A Paju City official stated, “We ask the farmers subject to purchase to maintain moisture content between 13% and 15%, and to comply with inspection standards such as packaging specifications of 800kg (net weight excluding ton bag packaging materials).”
