On the 11th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk attended the 'Policy Seminar for Revitalizing the Local Economy of Gumi City' held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, hosted by Congressman Kang Myung-gu (Gumi-si Eul).

View original imageThe seminar was attended by seven experts in railroads and industrial sites, including Kim Jang-ho, Mayor of Gumi, Lee Ho, Director of the Railroad Transportation Research Headquarters at the Korea Transport Institute, and Cho Sung-chul, Head of the Industrial Location Research Center at the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, to discuss Gumi City's current issues and development plans.
The seminar featured presentations on the 5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan and policies to revitalize the semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment cluster in Gumi City, with active exchange of diverse opinions.
In the subsequent discussion, Lee Yong-sang, Vice President of Woosong University, served as the chair, and experts including Kim Song-nyeon, Director of Regional Policy at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade, Noh Jin-su, Head of Future Strategy Planning at the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Institute, and Kang Shin-hae, Director of the Road and Railroad Division of Gumi City, engaged in in-depth discussions on ways to achieve industrial re-advancement in Gumi City.
In particular, attendees discussed the designation of a semiconductor specialized complex and a defense industry innovation cluster as growth engines for Gumi City's core industries, emphasizing the necessity of establishing a railroad transportation network.
The city proposed the construction of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Line between Seodaegu and Uiseong with the establishment of Donggumi Station, as well as the Kimcheon-Gumi-New Airport railroad, reviewing central government policy trends, key issues, and response strategies.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “It is meaningful to share various opinions on revitalizing the local economy,” adding, “We will do our best to enable Gumi City to take a step forward through the construction of railroad infrastructure and improvement of industrial sites.”
