Gwangju City Expands Weekend Opening of Workers' Complex Rest Area
Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 11th that it has introduced an unmanned access system at the Workers' Complex Shelter (110 Jungang-ro, Gwangju, Room 502), a resting space for mobile workers, on the 1st, and will expand its operation to unmanned weekend openings.

View original imageUntil now, the shelter operated from 10 a.m. on weekdays until 6 a.m. the next day, but after continuous requests from substitute drivers who mainly work at night, the city secured a budget and reviewed security measures related to the installation of the unmanned system, leading to its introduction through prior procedures.
The usage method allows access by installing the unmanned access system app, completing the membership registration process, and scanning the generated QR code on the terminal.
Accordingly, the Gwangju Workers' Complex Shelter will operate from 10 a.m. on weekdays until 6 a.m. the next day, and will be open 24 hours unmanned on weekends and holidays.
A worker who works as a substitute driver in the Gwangju area said, "I used to wander around convenience stores to escape the cold early on weekend mornings, but now I am very happy to be able to use a comfortable and warm shelter."

Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, "Since working hours vary depending on the occupation, we expanded the operating hours by promoting weekend openings to create a shelter for all mobile workers. We also operate various programs such as labor and tax consultations, traffic safety and CPR training, and regular job interviews, so we hope many people will use the facility."
