Special Time to Express Gratitude and Respect for Residents Aged 65 and Over in Honor of Senior Month
Guro-gu announced that it will hold senior citizen events in 16 neighborhoods in celebration of the Month of the Elderly.
These senior citizen events are organized for local residents aged 65 and older to express gratitude for their pivotal roles in national and social development and to promote a respectful atmosphere for the elderly.
Each neighborhood will hold various events tailored to their unique characteristics, including cultural performances, health programs, and meal services, to ensure lively and enjoyable times through the end of November.
The schedule for the senior citizen events by neighborhood is as follows: ▲ October 19 - Oryu 2-dong ▲ October 31 - Oryu 1-dong ▲ November 1 - Guro 4-dong ▲ November 5 - Sugung-dong, Sindorim-dong ▲ November 6 - Gocheok 2-dong ▲ November 7 - Hang-dong ▲ November 8 - Guro 1-dong ▲ November 11 - Gaebong 1-dong ▲ November 12 - Gocheok 1-dong ▲ November 13 - Guro 2-dong ▲ November 14 - Gaebong 3-dong ▲ November 15 - Guro 3-dong ▲ November 18 - Gaebong 2-dong ▲ November 19 - Guro 5-dong ▲ November 21 - Garibong-dong.
Earlier, on October 31 at Oryu 1-dong and November 5 at Sugung-dong, about 300 senior citizens attended meaningful events that began with a pre-meal saxophone performance and included the serving of dishes such as galbitang (beef short rib soup).
A Guro-gu official said, “We hope this event will be an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of filial piety, express gratitude for the hard work of our elders, and wish for their health. We will continue to do our best to help seniors communicate more with the local community and enjoy a vibrant later life.”
