Police Arrest 9 Suspects Including Construction Site Negligence and Violent Offenders
Special Crackdown on Illegal Activities Conducted for 6 Months
The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters announced on the 10th that from April 29 to October 31 this year, they conducted a special crackdown on illegal activities such as extortion and violence at construction sites, and poor construction, resulting in 701 people being referred to prosecution and 9 people being arrested.
By crime type, construction corruption offenders accounted for 575 people (5 arrested), and extortion and violence offenders accounted for 126 people (4 arrested), making up 82% of the total referrals. By region, 42.9% of the crackdown targets were in the metropolitan area (Seoul, Southern Gyeonggi, Northern Gyeonggi Police Agency), where major construction sites are concentrated.
The police participated in the task force meetings of related ministries dedicated to eradicating illegal activities at construction sites, sharing directions for crackdowns and inspections, and actively participated in on-site inspections and crackdowns by related ministries, while also conducting their own special crackdowns and administrative support activities.
