Protecting Campus Health... UNIST Launches Health Promotion App 'Pruto'
Healthcare Center 'Pruto' Developed... Strengthening Campus Health
From Self-Health Checkups to Consultations... Easily with One App
The UNIST (President Jongrae Park) Healthcare Center launched the mobile health promotion platform ‘Fruto’ last September.
As the importance of managing physical and mental health grows, this app was developed to support the healthy growth of its members.
‘Fruto’ means fruit in Spanish and carries the meaning of cultivating a healthy body and mind to achieve academic and research success. The app development involved Professor Dooyoung Jung from the Graduate School of Medical Science and Professor Hwang Kim’s design team from the Department of Design.
The ‘Fruto’ app offers various features including Healthcare Center information inquiry, consultation and medical appointment booking, self-diagnosis, program application, and health news provision. Users can easily access health information anytime and anywhere and apply for necessary services.
Based on a Healthcare Center awareness survey targeting undergraduate students, the brand identity was established, and a user-centered design was completed through UI/UX planning and joint design sessions.
Currently, the number of registered users has exceeded 400. Users check their health status through self-diagnosis and express satisfaction with the convenience and improved accessibility of consultation applications. General users, including Ulsan citizens, can use most functions of the ‘Fruto’ app except for medical service applications, making it highly practical.
Clinical psychologist Kyung Lee, who developed the app, said, “Fruto is the result of the advancement of the health services we have provided so far,” adding, “It was developed in response to the need for a communication channel that enables smooth sharing of health information and immediate connection with experts.”
Professor Hwang Kim stated, “Fruto is an efficient and systematic health management platform that will continuously improve by reflecting UNIST’s innovative ideas,” adding, “It is meaningful as a result of collaboration between on-campus laboratories and the Healthcare Center through a participatory design methodology.”
Professor Dooyoung Jung emphasized, “As mental health issues among young people are increasing, talents in the science and technology fields are also facing difficulties,” and said, “Through Fruto, we aim to enable early problem detection and preemptive support, creating an environment where users can grow independently.”
To use the app, the application can be downloaded via the ‘Fruto’ web access address and QR code.
