30s Son Arrested for Killing 70s Father in Eunpyeong-gu
A man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, was arrested by the police for killing his father in his 70s with a blunt weapon.
On the afternoon of the 2nd, Chief Judge Yang Eun-sang of the Seoul Western District Court conducted a pre-trial detention hearing for Mr. A and issued an arrest warrant, citing concerns over the risk of flight.
When Mr. A appeared in court that day, he told reporters asking about his motive, "I suffered a lot from my father's verbal abuse and violence," and claimed that "(domestic violence) had been ongoing throughout my life."
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of killing his father by striking him with a blunt weapon at a multi-family house in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, on the 27th of last month.

On the evening of the 31st of last month, around 8:40 p.m., Mr. A directly reported to the police that he had killed his father a few days earlier. It was understood that before making the report, he and his mother attempted a joint suicide but failed. Mr. A told the police that his father had been abusing his mother through domestic violence.
