Guri-si Inchang Library Hosts 'Hyeonghyeong Chaekchaek: Bookbinding Class'
Inchang Library in Guri City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) will operate the "Hyeonghyeong Chaekchaek (形形冊冊): Bookbinding Class" as a citizen culture program every Wednesday from the 6th to the 20th of this month.
This bookbinding class invites Lim Ga-young, the head of the book repair workshop, and is prepared as a beginner course in bookbinding. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own custom diary and mini book keyring by sewing covers and inner pages together with thread and needle.
Lim Ga-young majored in Industrial Design at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, completed courses in French artistic bookbinding and gold leaf application, and participated in the French Artistic Bookbinding Biennale exhibition. She is an expert who actively works not only as a 'book artist' but also as an 'artistic bookbinder' who repairs and restores books to make them sturdy and beautiful.
Baek Kyung-hyun, mayor of Guri City, said, “Through the 'Hyeonghyeong Chaekchaek (形形冊冊): Bookbinding Class,' I hope people find an opportunity and joy to get closer to books themselves by making books directly, moving beyond just reading.”
