National Heritage Treasure 'Byeokamrok' Arrives at Daewonsa Temple in Gapyeong
A Book Compiled with Excellent Articles for Enlightenment... Donated to Samsung Publishing Museum
Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) announced on the 31st that Kim Jong-gyu, director of the Samsung Publishing Museum, recently held a donation ceremony for the 'Bulgwa Hwano Seonsa Byeokamrok' at Daewonsa Temple in Gapyeong.
The donation ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including National Assembly member Kim Yong-tae, Gapyeong-gun Governor Seo Tae-won, and Hoiju Bo-in monk along with followers, adding prestige to the event.
'Byeokamrok' is a collection of about 100 good writings for attaining enlightenment, and 'Bulgwa Hwano Seonsa Byeokamrok' is a book in which Monk Hwano evaluated poetry and prose and then explained it in an easier way to understand. The donated Byeokamrok was printed with metal type in the 11th year of King Sejo's reign (1465), making it the oldest existing copy with the entire volume preserved, thus recognized for its high value.
Governor Seo Tae-won expressed, "We deeply appreciate Director Kim Jong-gyu of the Samsung Publishing Museum for donating the Byeokamrok for the people of Gapyeong and Buddhist followers," and added, "Through this donation ceremony, we hope to widely promote the value of Byeokamrok and pass on its teachings to many."
