Citizen Donates '119 Blood Donation Certificates' for 5 Years on Firefighters' Day, Gaining Attention
A citizen leading a volunteer group called 'Bongvengers' is delivering a heartwarming impression by donating 119 blood donation certificates to firefighters ahead of Firefighting Day (November 9).
The Seoul Fire Department branch of the National Public Officials Labor Union announced on the 31st, "This month, we received 119 blood donation certificates along with a warm message supporting firefighters from a citizen."
This citizen's special sharing began in 2020. While a university student, moved by the dedicated activities of firefighters, he first donated 119 blood donation certificates to the Gangnam Fire Station. Since then, he has continued this meaningful activity for five years, donating to the Jungbu Fire Station in Seoul (2021 and 2022), the Hoehyeon 119 Safety Center (2023), and up to this year.
The donor said, "I hope this activity, now in its fifth year, becomes better known to many people and creates a great positive influence," adding, "I want citizens to always remember the noble sacrifice and volunteer spirit of firefighters." He also included a message, "I hope that on Firefighting Day, even if just for one day a year, firefighters can smile brightly."
