Exhibition and Sale of Various Catfish Breeds
Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that it will hold the '20th National Uri Bae Grand Festival' at the Anseong Matchum Art Hall Small Theater on the 1st of next month.
Started in 2004, this event was organized to promote the excellence of Uri Bae varieties and to highlight the efforts of farmers leading the distribution of domestically developed varieties.
In the lobby of the Art Hall Small Theater on the day, 13 different genetic resources will be exhibited, including brown pears such as Sinhwa, Wonhwang, and Hwasan, which were developed domestically, green pears like Seolwon and Greensys, and red Western pear varieties such as Heukri.
At the outdoor event venue, there will be tastings of processed products like cup pears and pear rice cakes, as well as sales of affordable pears produced in Anseong. Citizen participation events such as nostalgic lottery draws and long pear peeling contests will also be held.
The event will also feature an award ceremony for the 'Best Quality Uri Bae Evaluation Contest,' selected through quality evaluation judging of domestic varieties of pears submitted by farms nationwide.
