40s Arrested and Indicted for Stealing 6.8 Billion Won in Cash from Unmanned Warehouse near Jamsil Station
A man in his 40s who stole billions of won in cash stored in an unmanned warehouse near Jamsil Station in Songpa-gu, Seoul, has been brought to trial while in custody.
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 29th that Mr. A was indicted in custody on charges of breaking and entering, theft, and obstruction of business.
According to the police, Mr. A, who worked as a middle manager of the unmanned warehouse where the incident occurred, is accused of taking the cash stored inside the warehouse from around 7 p.m. on September 12th until 1:21 a.m. the following day.
After placing the cash, which was stored in six travel bags, in a warehouse under his wife's name, he hid it around the 15th, two days after the crime, in a building in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi Province. The victim reported the theft only 12 days after the incident, and the police arrested Mr. A on the 2nd. The reported stolen cash amounted to 6.8 billion won.

Additionally, the police are investigating Ms. B, a woman in her 60s and Mr. A's mother, who is suspected of providing the building used to conceal the stolen money, as well as Ms. C, a woman in her 30s who was the first to inform the victim of the theft.
