Meeting Citizens' Expectations with a Gugak-Based Repertoire Enjoyable for All Generations
The Gyeonggi Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation announced on the 29th that it will hold a Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra concert at the Sejong Gugakdang on the 30th as part of the Gyeonggi Art Center's "Enjoying the Arts" project.
The "Enjoying the Arts" project, a public contest project of the Gyeonggi Art Center, is a program in which Gyeonggi-do art groups travel across the province to present high-quality performances to local residents. The Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation applied for this project and will present two performances to the citizens of Yeoju: the Gyeonggi Pops Ensemble concert and the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra concert.
The upcoming "Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra Concert" features the 35-member Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra led by conductor Jo Gwang-seok, who creatively fuses traditional music with various artistic genres. The concert will also feature musical actor Kim So-hyun, soprano Min Suk-yeon, and saxophonist Lee Jeong-sik.
The program includes folk songs such as "Bangatareong" and "Janggitareong," the Italian art song "Morning Song," the jazz piece "Autumn Leaves" performed with Lee Jeong-sik, musical numbers like "Golden Star" from Mozart performed with Kim So-hyun, "Memory" from Cats, and "Nagageodeun" from the drama Empress Myeongseong OST, offering a comprehensive and delightful experience.
Lee Soon-yeol, chairman of the Yeoju Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation, said, "On this deepening autumn evening, I hope everyone will be immersed in the essence of gugak orchestral music and the fragrance of art," adding, "Our foundation will continue to satisfy citizens' cultural needs with diverse genres of performances, so we ask for your continued interest."
