DONGDUCHEON City Player Cha Min-gyu Wins National Men's and Women's Speed Skating Championships
Victory in 1st Place in the Men's 1000m Event
Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 24th that Cha Min-gyu, a player affiliated with Dongducheon City Hall, achieved a remarkable victory by securing 1st place in the men's 1000m event at the 59th National Men and Women’s Speed Skating Championships (also serving as the selection trial for the 2024/25 ISU Speed Skating World Cup and the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games).
On the 23rd, during the second day of the competition held at the Taereung International Skating Rink in Seoul, Cha Min-gyu won with a time of 1 minute 10.52 seconds, surpassing Oh Hyun-min (1 minute 10.87 seconds) and Cho Sang-hyeok (1 minute 11.12 seconds).
This victory once again demonstrated Cha Min-gyu’s capabilities as a representative of South Korea in speed skating, and it forecasts even more promising performances in the upcoming 2024-2025 ISU World Cup series and the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games.
Mayor Park Hyung-deok of Dongducheon City stated, “We are very proud that Cha Min-gyu achieved outstanding results in this competition. We will continue to provide unwavering support so that Cha Min-gyu and other athletes affiliated with Dongducheon City Hall can perform at their best.”
