KBS Appoints Park Jang-beom, 'News9' Anchor, as New President Candidate
The KBS Board of Directors has nominated Park Jang-beom (54), the current anchor of 'News 9,' as the 27th president.
On the 23rd, the KBS Board of Directors held an extraordinary meeting and, after interviewing three candidates including anchor Park, current president Park Min, and Kim Sung-jin, the head of broadcast news weekly, announced that anchor Park was selected as the final candidate.
Once the board sends an official letter recommending the appointment of the president to the Ministry of Personnel Management, the appointment will be made by the president after a confirmation hearing in the National Assembly. Candidate Park, a graduate of Daejeon Daeseong High School and Yonsei University with a degree in economics, joined KBS in 1994 as part of the 20th public recruitment class of reporters. He has served as a London correspondent, head of the Social Affairs Department 2, and chief secretary. Since November last year, he has been anchoring KBS 1TV's 'News 9.'

Candidate Park also hosted the exclusive interview broadcast with President Yoon Seok-youl titled 'Special Interview: Visiting the Presidential Office,' which aired on KBS 1TV on February 7 this year. The term of the newly appointed president will be from December 10, this year, to December 9, 2027.
