"Woke Up to a Hole in Her Chin"…Woman Experiences Breathing Difficulties After Liposuction Procedure
Claim of Artery Damage After Plastic Surgery

Hospital Denies, Saying "It Is Not Artery Damage"
A controversy is expected as a customer who underwent liposuction at a famous plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, claims to have suffered arterial damage complications after the procedure.
According to JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' on the 22nd, informant A received double chin liposuction and thread lifting procedures at a well-known plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, in December 2022, and sustained injuries to the chin.
Regarding the situation, A said, "The hospital doctor recommended doing both procedures simultaneously, so I proceeded together," adding, "However, while going to the pharmacy in the hospital building, my face started to hurt as if it was going to burst and swelled severely."

At first, A thought the symptoms were typical immediately after the procedure and dismissed them lightly, but the pain gradually worsened to the point where breathing became difficult. When a coworker who saw A's face advised, "It doesn't seem like swelling caused by plastic surgery, so you should go back to the hospital quickly," A eventually revisited the plastic surgery clinic. The hospital staff told him, "It seems like an allergic reaction," and advised him to receive emergency treatment at the ER.
However, when A woke up after surgery, the medical staff were reportedly draining blood by making a hole in A's chin. A explained the situation at the time, saying, "My airway was almost blocked," and added, "It would have been better if I had gone to the emergency room of another hospital, but since the hospital handled it without such measures, time was delayed, and I repeatedly fainted in the middle of it."
Later, A realized from the emergency room records that there was "bleeding caused by arterial damage." A claimed, "The hospital only said the blood vessels were weak and bleeding occurred, but they never mentioned arterial or venous damage," and added, "When I asked if I could have died, the hospital said, 'You probably wouldn't have died,' and claimed they responded quickly."
A later requested a medical appraisal regarding the surgical outcome, and the appraisal institute reportedly stated, "The bleeding site is related to the surgical area, and it is believed to be caused by traumatic injury during surgery," and "Even a small amount of bleeding can compress the airway and cause respiratory distress."
