LG Electronics Releases SDK for Portable AI Home Hub 'Q9'
Participation in the World's Largest Robot Conference 'RosCon 2024'
Operation of Q9 Developer Website
Seeking Collaboration with Institutions and Companies Interested in Joint Development
LG Electronics has released the SDK (Software Development Kit) for its mobile artificial intelligence (AI) home hub (project name: Q9). An SDK is a collection of source code and tools used by developers to create software, and by making it public, anyone can develop various customized apps.
LG Electronics announced on the 23rd that it will showcase Q9 at ROSCon 2024, the world's largest robotics conference held in Odense, Denmark. ROSCon is an event where robot developers from around the world gather to present the latest technologies and share ideas.
LG Electronics participated in the world's largest robot conference, ROSCON 2024, held over three days starting on the 21st (local time) in Odense, Denmark, showcasing its mobile AI home hub (project name: Q9) to robot developers worldwide. LG Electronics is releasing an SDK that includes open APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and sample codes for Q9 app development. By releasing the SDK, which includes open APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and sample code for Q9 app development, they expect external developers to create apps utilizing Q9's features to offer diverse customer experiences. Through the SDK, they aim to build an open platform ecosystem, and newly created apps or functions will be provided to customers after LG Electronics' final review.
At the LG Electronics booth, a space has been set up where developers can interact with Q9 and listen to stories created by Q9, experiencing its features firsthand. LG Electronics will also introduce Q9's functions and services and conduct sessions where participants can actually develop Q9 apps using the SDK. Baek Seung-min, head of the Robot Advanced Research Lab in the CTO division, will emphasize the significance of releasing the SDK to expand the open ecosystem of AI home and propose joint development participation to robot developers worldwide. LG Electronics also supports a community on the Q9 developer website where developers can communicate with each other and an application market to download apps they have created. They plan to sign MOUs with institutions and companies interested in joint development of Q9 apps and seek advanced development collaboration in the future.
First introduced at CES in the United States earlier this year, Q9 is a mobile AI home hub that connects various home appliances and IoT devices within the house. It features multimodal sensing capabilities combining voice, sound, and image recognition. It moves around the space on wheels attached to its two legs, assesses the environment, and expresses emotions through eyes displayed on its screen, interacting with users and actively caring for customers.
