Hanam-si Receives 'National Assembly Education Committee Chairman Award' for Lifelong Learning City Development Contributions
Jin Ilsun, Director of Hanam City Lifelong Education Center, is receiving the National Assembly Education Committee Chairman Award at the "National Lifelong Learning City Festival" held on the 18th and 19th.
Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) achieved a remarkable feat by producing an awardee who received the special National Assembly Education Committee Chairman Award in recognition of laying the foundation for the development of lifelong learning cities at the ‘2024 1st National Lifelong Learning City Festival’ held at Gwangmyeong Theater in Gwangmyeong City.
According to Hanam City on the 22nd, Jin Il-soon, Director of Hanam City Lifelong Education Center, received the National Assembly Education Committee Chairman Award at the ‘National Lifelong Learning City Festival’ held from the 18th to 19th, hosted by the National Lifelong Learning City Council, which included an opening ceremony, commendations, lifelong learning city forum, and Good Policy Awards.
Hosted by the National Lifelong Learning City Council and supported by the Ministry of Education, Gwangmyeong City, National Institute for Lifelong Education, National Association of Provincial Lifelong Education Institutes, Korea Association of Mayors, County Governors and District Heads, and EBS, this festival was attended by 199 learning cities nationwide, 74 education support offices, related institution heads, and officials.
Director Jin, along with staff from Hanam City Lifelong Education Center, was recognized for achievements such as ▲joining the 2024 UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities ▲establishing and operating regional hub lifelong learning centers ▲expanding lifelong learning city projects for the disabled (2023?2024), which reduced regional learning participation gaps and revitalized resident participation, propelling Hanam City to become a world-class excellent learning city.
Through these efforts, Hanam City also achieved significant accomplishments this year, including receiving the ‘Korea Lifelong Learning City Good Policy Award’ and passing the ‘Ministry of Education Lifelong Learning City Re-designation Evaluation.’
Director Jin stated, “I am pleased that the excellence of Hanam City’s lifelong learning policies was recognized at the 1st festival event held to promote communication and capacity building among lifelong learning cities nationwide,” and emphasized, “Hanam City Lifelong Education Center will continue to implement diverse lifelong learning policies to create a ‘desirable learning city’ that connects happy lives and learning.”

Meanwhile, the Hanam City ‘Meorisarang’ learning club, composed of Hanam citizens, advanced to the finals of the lifelong learning club presentation contest at this festival and received an encouragement award by presenting an excellent case of Hanam City’s learning clubs under the theme ‘Learn with Scissors and Clippers to Share.’
