On the 19th, Tanbeol-dong in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 21st that it held the "1st Tanbeol-dong Residents' Day" at Tanbeol Elementary School.
This event, hosted by the Tanbeol-dong Institution and Organization Heads Council, was the first since the division of Tanbeol-dong in 2020. It provided a place for over 40,000 residents to unite and communicate, enhancing solidarity and fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility as members of the local community.
The event was attended by Mayor Bang Se-hwan, National Assembly member So Byung-hoon, City Council Chairman Heo Kyung-haeng, provincial and city council members, heads of related organizations, and about 900 local residents, adding significance to the "Happy City No.1 Tanbeol People Harmony Festival."
The program was filled with various attractions and entertainment, starting with presentations from the Tanbeol and Songjeong-dong residents' self-governing programs, a friendly soccer match between Tanbeol-dong institution heads and a celebrity soccer team, a residents' singing contest, and other side events.
In particular, a cheerful sports day involving three generations was held, receiving high praise and showcasing Gwangju-si as a "customized welfare city where three generations are happy."
Additionally, the Tanbeol-dong Sports Association Golf Club (President Lee Young-ho) donated 1.5 million KRW, raised through warm support from sports members, to three hometown scholarship students, practicing neighborly love.
