Pukyong National University Officially Launches Acting President System
Responding to Major University Issues Until the Appointment of the 8th President
National Pukyong National University (Acting President Lee Min-hee) is officially launching the acting president system.
Following the resignation of President Jang Young-soo on the 18th, the position of president became vacant, and newly appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs Lee Min-hee has taken on the role of acting president to address key issues.
At the 8th presidential candidate election held on June 26, Professor Bae Sang-hoon (Department of Satellite Information Convergence Engineering) was elected as the first priority candidate, and Professor Wang Je-pil (Department of Metallurgical Engineering) as the second priority candidate.
After verifying the research achievements of the presidential candidates, National Pukyong National University sent a candidate recommendation letter to the Ministry of Education in August and is currently awaiting government appointment. The next president will serve a four-year term upon appointment.
Through the acting president system, National Pukyong National University plans to respond smoothly to major policy projects such as the “Glocal University” and the “Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE),” which require essential cooperation with the local community.
In particular, following the record-high competition rate in this year’s early admission, which closed last month, the university plans to thoroughly prepare for upcoming admission schedules including early admission registration and regular admission, as well as the operation of the newly established Department of Liberal Studies starting next year.
