Yangsan Arboretum Development Project Gains Momentum After Passing Central Investment Review
Mayor Na Dong-yeon and Congressman Kim Tae-ho Alliance... Decisive Role
Rapid Administrative Procedures... Construction Start Planned for Early 2026 - Completion by Late 2028
The Yangsan Arboretum Development Project is gaining momentum as it has passed the Central Investment Review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam selected Daewoonsan in Yongdang-dong as the final candidate site for the arboretum in March this year. In May, the city applied for the designation of the arboretum development site to the Korea Forest Service through Gyeongnam Province, and received approval on July 31, which is considered an exceptional pace of project advancement, as the approval came just three months after the application.
Furthermore, passing the Central Investment Review in one go has accelerated the project significantly. Behind this achievement, the cooperative system between Mayor Na Dong-yeon of Yangsan and National Assemblyman Kim Tae-ho (Yangsan-eul) is evaluated to have played a decisive role.
From the time the Central Investment Review was requested, Mayor Na and Assemblyman Kim continuously communicated, discussing response strategies and cooperation plans to pass the review, and repeatedly explained the necessity and justification of the project to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
With the Central Investment Review passed, Yangsan City plans to start with the approval of the shared property management plan next month, complete land compensation, detailed design, and development plan approval by the end of next year, begin construction in early 2026, and complete the project by the end of 2028.

Mayor Na Dong-yeon said, “The Yangsan Arboretum Development Project is a major core project for our city, and since the process of persuading the government was important, active support from the local district assemblyman was necessary. Thanks to the active interest, support, and backing from the political sphere and local community, we were able to pass the Central Investment Review.” He added, “I once again promise to fulfill our role in making Yangsan a premier green city through the creation of a distinguished arboretum.”
