Gyeongnam Jeongbo University K-Beauty Skin and Nail Department Wins 'Minister of Health and Welfare Award' at CIDESCO Competition for 7 Consecutive Years
Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Tae-sang) announced that Song Chae-yoon, a first-year student in the K-Beauty Skin and Nail Department, won the grand prize, the Minister of Health and Welfare Award, at the '2024 Korea CIDESCO Beauty Therapy Skills Competition,' marking the seventh consecutive year the university has produced a Minister’s Award winner.

View original imageThe Korea CIDESCO Beauty Therapy Skills Competition serves as a platform for nurturing talent in the global beauty industry. It is hosted by the Korea Skin and Beauty Association Central Committee and the CIDESCO Korea branch, with support from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Committee of the International Skills Olympics.
This year’s competition was held from the 25th to the 27th of last month at the Korea Skin and Beauty Association Central Committee, with about 2,000 participants including beauty industry experts and university students nationwide competing in categories such as facial care, body care, and foot care.
Song Chae-yoon demonstrated outstanding skills in the facial care category and was the only student to receive the grand prize. She attracted particular attention as a first-year student who had been enrolled for only about eight months.
Song Chae-yoon said, “Through the university’s global training program (Australia), I was able to directly experience overseas beauty trends and techniques, which helped me build confidence,” adding, “I want to grow into a global beauty expert and be active both domestically and internationally.”
Kim Kyung-mi, head professor of the CIDESCO School at Gyeongnam Information University (K-Beauty Skin and Nail Department), stated, “Gyeongnam Information University is the only CIDESCO-certified educational institution in the Busan area, and student satisfaction is high,” adding, “We will further expand exchanges with overseas CIDESCO schools and enhance students’ capabilities who aspire to be K-Beauty leaders through practical, field-oriented education.”

The K-Beauty Skin and Nail Department at Gyeongnam Information University supports overseas employment for students in cruise spas and luxury hotel spas in countries such as Singapore, Australia, and Japan. It also operates customized employment-guaranteed education programs in collaboration with well-known beauty companies including Yaksone Myeongga, The First Dermatology Clinic, Yeorihan Diet, and Dalia Esthetic.
