Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake Near Malatya in Southeastern Turkey
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake occurred near Malatya, located inland in southeastern T?rkiye, at around 10:46 AM local time on the 16th.
The earthquake struck an area approximately 43 km east of Malatya in southeastern T?rkiye, near the border with Syria.
The epicenter was at 38.29 degrees north latitude and 38.83 degrees east longitude, with a focal depth of 9 km. This region suffered significant damage from a strong earthquake in February last year.
