"Offering the Best Hand Taste"... Uljin-gun Hosts the 7th Marinepia National Sea Fishing Competition
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will hold the "7th Marinepia Uljin National Sea Fishing Competition" on the 19th and 20th at Hujeong Beach in Jukbyeon-myeon, Uljin-gun.
The competition is hosted by Uljin-gun, organized by the Uljin-gun Fishing Association, and sponsored by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters. This event is expected to attract over 150 top anglers from across the country, including fishing enthusiasts.
Participants must arrive at Hujeong Beach by 8 a.m. on the 19th, the day of the competition, to complete registration and seat drawing. After the opening ceremony and safety briefing, they will move to their assigned spots according to their draw numbers. The intense surfcasting competition will begin at 9:30 a.m.
The competition is individual-based and limited to surfcasting. The target fish species are black porgy (Gamseongdom) measuring 25 cm or more, sea bass (Nong-eo) 30 cm or more, and flatfish species (Gajami-ryu) 20 cm or more. Rankings will be determined by measuring the total length of one caught fish.
Prizes include 5 million KRW and a trophy for first place, 2 million KRW and a trophy for second place, and 1 million KRW and a trophy for third place, along with generous awards and gifts. Additional awards will be given for the oldest and youngest participants, longest distance, contribution to the competition, and guest raffle prizes. Local specialties and fishing gear will also be generously provided through a raffle.
