LG Electronics Launches 'Clothing Upcycling' Campaign Targeting YG Generation in Mexico
Used Clothing Collection Boxes on University Campuses and Other Locations
LG Electronics is launching an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) campaign through clothing upcycling with the Young Generation (YG) in Mexico. Upcycling refers to the process of transforming discarded items into products with higher value through creative repurposing.
On the 10th (local time), LG Electronics participated as the only home appliance company in 'Design Week Mexico,' which opened in Mexico City, and started a 'Clothing Upcycling Campaign' in collaboration with the prestigious local private university, Iberoamericana University.
The campaign will continue until the 3rd of next month, with collection boxes for used clothes installed throughout Mexico City. The collected clothing will be washed and upcycled into goods such as tote bags and dolls, which will then be donated to nonprofit organizations.

On the 15th, an 'Upcycling' workshop was held at Iberoamericana University. LG Electronics placed premium home appliances such as Styler, InstaView MoodUp Refrigerator, and WashTower at the workshop to allow students to naturally experience the products. Additionally, Iberoamericana University students were invited to the 'Design House' exhibition at Design Week Mexico, where LG Electronics introduced its ESG values and exhibited premium products including the WashTower and Artcool air conditioner.
This campaign focuses on expanding connections with the YG generation in Mexico and promoting LG Electronics’ sustainable lifestyle. According to Euromonitor’s 'Global Consumer Trends 2023,' Mexico shows higher interest in sustainable living compared to the global average. Particularly among the YG generation, sustainable fashion, secondhand trading, and flea markets are emerging as major interests.
LG Electronics plans to steadily expand the campaign in line with the interests of the Mexican YG generation and is broadening customer experience spaces through collaboration with universities. To realize the ESG goal of 'Better Life for All,' LG Electronics continues various activities worldwide, including a food waste awareness campaign in Indonesia last May.
