Guri City is operating the fourth program of the second half of the year, "A Comfortable Library, Growing Bigger with Humanities," titled "Art Containing the Wisdom and Philosophy of Ancestors: Traditional Liquor Humanities."
Inchang Library in Guri City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyeon) will operate the fourth program of the second half of the year starting on the 15th, titled "A Joyful Library, Growing Through Humanities," featuring "Art Containing the Wisdom and Philosophy of Ancestors: Traditional Liquor Humanities."
This humanities program invites Bae Ji-young, the head of the Traditional Liquor Complex Cultural Workshop, to explore the origins of renowned family and famous liquors that began with agricultural and homemade liquors, which were indispensable in the lives of our ancestors, and to learn about the history of Korean traditional liquors (ju).
Bae Ji-young is a popular traditional liquor sommelier who actively promotes the popularization of traditional liquor and brewing culture. Under the value that "homemade liquor contains the heart," she continuously researches traditional liquors by brewing based on recipes from ancient documents over a hundred years old to widely share the culture and value of homebrewing (sullou).
Meanwhile, this class also includes a 'traditional liquor brewing' experience, allowing participants to take home the traditional liquor they make themselves, which is expected to attract high interest from citizens.
Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyeon of Guri City stated, "I hope this program will be a meaningful time for people to feel our unique traditions and arts more intimately."
