Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation Designated as Issuing Agency for 'Mobile Disabled Registration Card'
Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO) announced on the 15th that it has recently been designated as the "Dedicated Agency for Issuing Mobile Disability Registration Cards."
The mobile disability registration card allows registered persons with disabilities to store their card on their personal smartphones, offering greater convenience and portability compared to the traditional disability registration card.
In particular, it enables clear identity verification online, which is expected to contribute to resolving welfare blind spots by providing various welfare services linked with government systems.
KOMSCO plans to build a mobile disability registration card system next year by improving user accessibility and usability after a consultation process in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Once the issuance of mobile disability registration cards begins, approximately 2.6 million people with disabilities in Korea will be able to store and use their registration cards on their personal smartphones.
Sung Chang-hoon, President of KOMSCO, stated, "The mobile disability registration card will help people with disabilities verify their identity more easily and conveniently both online and offline to receive services."
Meanwhile, KOMSCO is promoting a plan to sequentially issue seven major national identification cards in mobile form, including driver's licenses, resident registration cards, disability registration cards, national veterans registration cards, passports, youth identification cards, and foreigner registration cards.
