Ulsan City Conducts Training for Developing Countries' Officials on Urban Forest Development Capacity
15 Public Officials from 5 Countries to Visit Ulsan from 15th to 23rd
Ulsan City, in cooperation with the University of Ulsan, will invite public officials from developing countries to Ulsan from the 15th to the 23rd for a training program titled "Capacity Building for Urban Forest Creation in Response to Climate Change."
The training will be attended by 15 public officials responsible for forest conservation and environmental policy-making from five countries: Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Suriname.
This program includes lectures on Ulsan's environmental preservation policies as an industrial city and the economic value of urban forest creation, as well as field visits to Taehwagang National Garden, the urban forest site on the former Buk-gu railway, and the Ulsan Arboretum.
During the training period, participants will learn how to establish and operate urban forest creation plans to prevent environmental pollution and ecological destruction caused by industrialization in developing countries and to seek sustainable development in harmony with nature.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "Ulsan, which will host the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo, is a representative industrial city that has achieved a harmonious balance between nature conservation and economic growth. We hope that participants from each country will learn from Ulsan's successful cases of urban forest creation and that this will help them in formulating relevant policies in their own countries."
