On the 15th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it recently distributed 2,076 keyrings and 70 timers, made using the Gyeonggi Province character Bonggong-i, to 29 kindergartens and daycare centers in the province where food poisoning incidents occurred over the past five years, to help young children develop proper handwashing habits.
The keyring includes the six steps of handwashing as well as the rule to wash hands for 30 seconds. The timer allows easy confirmation of handwashing time through colors.
Inchikwon, Director of Food Safety at Gyeonggi Province, said, "Infants and toddlers have weak immune systems and are particularly vulnerable to food poisoning," and urged, "Please take an interest so that children can develop proper handwashing habits through this campaign."
Gyeonggi Province plans to strengthen hygiene management measures such as hygiene education inspections to prevent the recurrence of food poisoning incidents in daycare centers and kindergartens, where secondary and group infections are easy to occur, and will carry out various activities such as handwashing campaigns.

Norovirus is characterized by rapid transmission through secondary infections, so it is important to prevent infection by maintaining personal hygiene such as handwashing.
