Dongnam Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences Holds 3rd Radiopharmaceuticals-Healthcare Symposium
Launch of Korea Radiopharmaceuticals-Healthcare Council
The 3rd Radiopharmaceuticals-Healthcare Symposium, hosted by the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (Director: Lee Changhun), was held on the 11th at the institute's main auditorium on the second floor.
This symposium, now in its third year, brought together researchers and physicians dedicated to the research and development of domestic radiopharmaceuticals and digital healthcare. The event served as a platform to discuss the present and future of advanced radiopharmaceuticals-healthcare convergence and to launch the Korea Radiopharmaceuticals-Healthcare Council.
Lee Changhun, Director of the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences, stated in his congratulatory speech, "It is an honor to meet experts who are conducting convergence research and various clinical applications of radiopharmaceuticals and digital healthcare. Thanks to your support, the Dongnam Radiation Medical and Science Complex is gradually establishing itself. I also hope that the newly launched Korea Radiopharmaceuticals-Healthcare Council will become the driving force behind the advancement of cutting-edge radiopharmaceuticals and healthcare in our country."
The symposium was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. In the morning, Professor Noh Junghoon of Pusan National University Hospital served as chair, while in the afternoon, Lee Jaetae, President of the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (and President of the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency), and Lee Byungchul, Professor at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, each chaired the sessions, leading presentations and discussions.
In the first morning session, Professor Kang Saebyung of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Senior Researcher Kim Heejin of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Professor Kim Hyungsik of Konkuk University, and Professor Nam Kyungwon of Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital each presented their latest research achievements on cancer diagnosis and treatment methods, smart clinical trial platforms, the effects of frequency and waveform in RFA, and AI-based unmanned monitoring technology for inpatients.
In the second afternoon session, Director Lee Gyocheol of the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences, Senior Researcher Lee Junyoung of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, and Chief Byun Byunghyun of Korea Cancer Center Hospital introduced their research on the production and clinical application of medical radioisotopes and the development of isotope generation devices.
In the third session that followed in the afternoon, Professor Yang Seungyun of Pusan National University, Director Jang Hangki of the Korea Radiation Safety Foundation, and Director Lee Hongje of the Research Center at the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences presented on the development of radioactive microgels, the current status of the radiopharmaceuticals industry, and future development strategies for the Radiopharmaceuticals Healthcare Center.
The highlight of the symposium was the inauguration ceremony of the 'Korea Radiopharmaceuticals-Healthcare Council.' Lee Jaetae, President of the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency (NECA), who leads innovation in healthcare technology, was appointed as an advisor and is expected to play a key role in providing various consultations to strengthen the capabilities of radiopharmaceuticals-healthcare convergence research.
