US August Trade Deficit $70.4 Billion... Lowest in 5 Months
The United States recorded a trade deficit of $70.4 billion in August this year, marking the lowest level in five months.
On the 8th (local time), the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that the trade deficit in August this year was $70.4 billion, a 10.8% decrease compared to the previous month ($78.9 billion). This is the lowest level in five months since March ($69.4 billion).
The trade deficit in August was higher than the expert forecast compiled by Bloomberg ($70.1 billion deficit).
Exports increased by $5.3 billion (2.0%) from the previous month to $271.8 billion, while imports decreased by $3.2 billion (-0.9%) from the previous month to $342.2 billion.
