Yangju Mayor Kang Su-hyun Attends 'Baekseok Sinchon Festival' for Civil-Military-Private Harmony
Yang Soo-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City, is delivering a greeting at the '2024 Baekseok Sinchon Festival,' an urban regeneration village festival held in the Bangseong-ri area of Baekseok-eup.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju City attended the urban regeneration village festival, the ‘2024 Baekseok Sinchon Festival,’ held in the Bangseong-ri area of Baekseok-eup (Bangseong-ri 153-1), and encouraged the efforts of the officials involved.
This village festival, conducted as part of the ‘Special Situation Area Specialization Project (Phase 2),’ was organized to foster the community culture of the ‘Baekseok Sinchondong-i Village’ and revitalize the local economy.
The festival was directly planned and prepared by the ‘Festival Preparation Committee’ composed of residents of Baekseok Sinchondong-i Village, with mutual cooperation from the 8th Mechanized Infantry Division and local universities to ensure smooth event operation.
At the event venue, various experiences were offered, including ▲basic makeup consultations for soldiers ▲face painting for general residents ▲personal color diagnosis ▲caricatures, along with a variety of food provided through food trucks operated by local merchants.
Additionally, diverse celebratory performances such as military band, cheerleading, and invited singers, as well as impromptu resident participation events like the Yangju Highball speed-eating contest, drew enthusiastic responses from visitors.
Moreover, at the Sinchondong-i Village promotional booth, the village was introduced along with currently developing specialized products (Dong-i bread, character merchandise), and a character merchandise preference survey was conducted to collect opinions from various age groups.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju City said, “I am grateful to the members and officials who worked hard preparing this festival and to everyone who visited. Yangju City will also do its best to discover and implement policies that genuinely help revitalize the local economy and resonate with citizens.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Special Situation Area Specialization Project’ is a project promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety under the Special Act on Balanced National Development to promote regional development by enhancing the welfare of residents and revitalizing the local economy in areas marginalized due to factors such as the division of the Korean Peninsula and geographical conditions.
