Gwangju City, November 11th 'Namhansanseong Sports Town' Completion Ceremony
Accelerating Facility Preparations for the 2026-2027 Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival
Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province will hold the completion ceremony for the ‘Namhan Mountain Fortress Sports Town,’ which was promoted to address the lack of sports facilities in Namhansanseong-myeon, on the 11th.
According to the city on the 8th, Namhan Mountain Fortress Sports Town began construction in March and covers an area of 15,065㎡, featuring one soccer field (also used as a baseball field), one gateball court (also used as a jokgu court), and parking spaces for about 50 vehicles.
Until now, it was difficult to install public sports facilities in Namhansanseong-myeon due to overlapping regulations, but to promote residents’ health, leisure activities, and the creation of a sound sports space, a sports facility construction project was carried out on the site of the existing Namhansanseong-myeon playground.
In particular, it is highly significant that this is the first sports facility to be completed following the successful bid to host the 2026?2027 Gyeonggi Province Comprehensive Sports Competition.
The completion ceremony will be attended by many guests, including Mayor Bang Se-hwan, National Assembly member So Byung-hoon, City Council Chairman Heo Kyung-haeng, provincial and city council members, and will be held together with Namhansanseong-myeon Residents’ Day, providing a meaningful time with local residents.
