Joint National Support Memorial Ceremony Held in Boseong on the 19th
Various Side Events Including Art Exhibition, Concert, and Minhwa Special Exhibition
On the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Yeosun Incident, Jeonnam Province will hold various events, including an art exhibition related to the Yeosun Incident, starting from the 11th. The photo shows a poster for the side events.

Jeollanam-do announced that starting from the 11th, various commemorative events such as an art exhibition related to the Yeosun Incident, concerts, and a special folk painting exhibition will be held to raise awareness of the historical truth and foster public consensus in commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the Yeosun Incident.
The Yeosun 10·19 Incident refers to the event in which innocent civilians were sacrificed during the suppression of chaos that occurred from October 19, 1948, to April 1, 1955, in parts of Jeollanam-do, Jeollabuk-do, and Gyeongsangnam-do.
This year’s joint memorial ceremony will be held on the 19th at Boseong Tea Culture Park. At the Korea Tea Culture Park, artworks related to the Yeosun Incident by artist Park Geumman will also be exhibited.
In addition, various side events will be held to honor the souls of the innocent victims, inform the public of the historical truth of the Yeosun Incident, and build nationwide consensus. On the 11th at 4 p.m., a concert titled “Singing with Haegum” by musician Hangyeolhoo will take place at the open auditorium of Suncheon Shindae Library to commemorate the victims and their families.
From the 12th to the 26th, an art exhibition titled “Prayer, 1948” by artist Lee Inhye will be held at the Egg Gallery in Yeosu, and from the 17th to November 2, a special folk painting exhibition by members of “Soseokhoe,” a group of Yeosun Incident bereaved families, will be showcased at the Camellia Gallery in the Yeosu Expo International Pavilion.
Moreover, during the week of the memorial events, various activities have been prepared in the eastern regions of Jeollanam-do, where the Yeosun Incident mainly occurred.
In Yeosu City, there will be the Yeosun 10·19 - Jeju 4·3 Art Exchange Exhibition and the creative opera “Silence of 1948.” In Suncheon City, special exhibitions on Yeosun 10·19, educational programs related to Yeosun 10·19, the Yeosun 10·19 Peace and Culture Festival, and the Yeosun 10·19 Peace and Healing Resonance event will be held.
In Gwangyang City, there will be a Yeosun Incident youth camp, a meeting with bereaved families, the Yeosun Incident Gwangyang memorial ceremony, and a Yeosun Incident historical painting exhibition. In Gurye County, a Yeosun Incident memorial service, a commemorative performance, and an exhibition by artist Park Geumman will be held. In Goheung County, the unveiling ceremony of the Yeosun Incident memorial tower and a memorial service will take place.
