On the 7th, Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) held an appointment ceremony for the New City Hall Construction Promotion Committee along with a kickoff meeting for the feasibility study and basic plan establishment service. This is expected to accelerate the progress of the new city hall construction, one of the city's key projects.
The appointment ceremony and briefing session were attended by Mayor Joo Gwang-deok, 33 promotion committee members, and related officials. The event included the awarding of appointment letters, explanations of the direction for the new city hall construction and the project details, as well as a Q&A session.
Through the service, the city plans to conduct △ analysis of basic data such as the necessity of constructing the new city hall △ determination of construction scale and facility operation plans as the basic direction △ economic feasibility analysis including project cost estimation and project execution methods, aiming to complete the feasibility study and basic plan by August next year.
The city plans to request the feasibility study from the Local Investment Analysis Center (LOMAC) and proceed with administrative procedures such as the Gyeonggi Province investment review. The goal is to start construction of the new city hall in July 2029 and complete it by December 2031.
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok stated, “Namyangju City will become a mega city with a population of one million within about 10 years,” adding, “We will do our best to promote the construction of the new city hall to establish a foundation that can respond to the rapidly increasing administrative demands accompanying the city's growth and provide the best administrative services to citizens.”

Mayor Joo also emphasized, “The new city hall will be developed as a future city-type convergence administrative town that encompasses publicness, symbolism, and openness,” and added, “We will fully collect residents' opinions on the current Geumgok-dong city hall site and prepare efficient utilization plans.”
