Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced that it will hold a Dokdo Photo Exhibition to commemorate 'Dokdo Day' (October 25).
This exhibition will be held from October 4 to 31 at Gyeongbokgung Station on Line 3, displaying photos capturing the four seasons and wildlife of Dokdo to raise awareness of the preciousness of Dokdo, our territory.
The Dokdo Photo Exhibition features 36 photos showcasing the beautiful four seasons of Dokdo, including the sunrise at Dongdo Face Rock, black-tailed gulls returning to Dokdo, the sunset of Dokdo, and the snowy scenery of Independence Gate Rock.
This photo exhibition utilized public data photos from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Gyeongbokgung Station on Line 3, where the exhibition is held, is an underground station designed by the late architect Kim Swoo-geun and is designated as a 'Seoul Future Heritage,' making it a station with high preservation value as a cultural heritage site. Recently, the existing shops and Metro Museum were closed to restore the station to its original architectural appearance, making it a meaningful venue suitable for the Dokdo Photo Exhibition.
At the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition held on October 4, Lee Byung-yoon, chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, and others attended to celebrate the exhibition.
Attendees at the opening ceremony included Lee Byung-yoon, Chair of the Transportation Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, and Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro.
Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro, said, “Through photos capturing the beautiful four seasons of Dokdo, we wanted to reaffirm that Dokdo is our precious territory and widely promote this awareness. We hope that citizens using the subway will have an opportunity to appreciate the exhibition and reflect on the significance of Dokdo.”
