As Part of an Art Project Utilizing Idle Spaces
The Gyeonggi-do Hwaseong Cultural Foundation will hold the exhibition "Village, Five Perspectives" at 'Hwaseong Maeul Sarangbang' located in Pyeong-ri, Hyangnam-eup, starting from the 8th.
Open until November 24, this exhibition is part of an art project utilizing idle spaces within the district. Four artists participate in this exhibition held at Hwaseong Maeul Sarangbang, a village community space, expressing the appearance of the village and the values contained within it through various forms such as installation works, paintings, and photographs from their own perspectives.
Sculptor Lee Yoon-sook conveys the meaning of diverse people gathering, helping each other, coexisting, and creating a peaceful and joyful village through her new work "Gakyanggaksaeng Sangsaenghwarak." Artist Park Na-eun views the shape of the "house" that makes up the village as a single human being, capturing the relationship between people's inner selves and the external world in her work.
Artist Lee Chang-hwan presents unpublished new works "Balan Scenery," photographed over the past ten years. Artist Lim Sang-hee conveys everyday stories and the stories of people contained within them through paintings based on villages in the southern and western parts of Hwaseong.
The exhibition also offers ongoing hands-on programs where visitors can directly participate in creating exhibition works by Lee Yoon-sook and Park Na-eun, as well as coloring drawing postcards by Lim Sang-hee.
Kim Shin-ah, CEO of the Hwaseong Cultural Foundation, said, "Through this exhibition, we hope visitors will capture the forgotten village through their eyes and discover the meaning and value of the village within."
