Gwangju University (President Kim Dong-jin) recently invited Jeong Jin-wook, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party representing Gwangju Dongnam-gap, to give a special lecture as part of a liberal arts course on life philosophy held at the Hosim-gwan Small Auditorium on campus.
Assemblyman Jeong quoted the late Chairman Chung Ju-young's saying, "There are trials but no failures," and delivered a lecture under the theme "There are trials but no giving up." He introduced the life story of Kim Gu, who faced countless trials, through his autobiography, explaining the importance of not giving up.
When asked by a student about the best choice he had made in life, he answered, "Not giving up on becoming a member of the National Assembly," once again emphasizing the importance of perseverance.
Jang Mi-young, Director of Educational Innovation (Operating Professor), said, "I hope students realize the importance of not giving up and use Gwangju University, where failure is accepted, as a stepping stone to challenge themselves without fear."
