Power Duct Penetration for Power Supply to Yongin Wonsam Semiconductor Cluster
Completion of entire power supply facilities by August 2026, 2 years and 4 months after groundbreaking

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that on the 30th of last month, a breakthrough ceremony was held for the tunnel-type power supply facility, a core infrastructure of the 'Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex' being developed in Wonsam-myeon, Cheoin-gu.
The tunnel that was penetrated is an infrastructure facility to supply 2.83GW of power required for SK Hynix and the cooperation complex, as well as other facilities planned to be established in the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster.
On the 30th of last month, Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, gave a congratulatory speech at the tunnel-type power duct penetration ceremony for electricity supply to the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex.

The breakthrough ceremony was attended by Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, Bang Seong-jong, CEO of Yongin General Industrial Complex, the developer of the industrial complex, Jang Hyo-sik, Vice President of SK Ecoplant, and Seo Jeong-won, Head of Korea Electric Power Corporation Gyeonggi Construction Branch.
Mayor Lee Sang-il said, "The Yongin Semiconductor Cluster is very important to Yongin, the semiconductor hub city of South Korea," adding, "The city will spare no administrative support to ensure the successful operation of the first production line (Fab), scheduled for 2027, starting construction next year." He also added, "Once the industrial complex is completed, it is expected that not only Wonsam-myeon in Cheoin-gu but the entire Yongin City will undergo a dazzling transformation."

Meanwhile, the power supply facility connecting the Sinanseong Substation in Anseong City to the industrial complex has a total length of 6.2 km, of which 1 km is planned as an open-cut type and 5.2 km as a tunnel type. The excavation was completed on this day, 2 years and 4 months after construction began in May 2022. After completing the open-cut power duct construction, cable installation work will continue. The entire power supply facility, including the substation, is scheduled to be completed by August 2026.
